Rafaela Sahyoun
Choreographer, dancer, and educator, she works between Brazil and Europe. She graduated from SEAD – Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance in Austria (2013) and Trinity Laban Centre for Movement and Dance in London (2009).
She has been collaborating as a dancer with national and international choreographers and dance companies since 2012. Her choreographic projects include the collection Something to Phase Us: Who Goes There (2022) and Something to Phase Us: Blink (2022 and 2023); Fôlego (2022) created for the Balé da Cidade de São Paulo, which received the APCA Dance Award 2022; the trilogy NINGUÉMMESOLTA (Don’t Lose Me, 2018-2021) danced in São Paulo, Rosario (Argentina), Berlin and Potsdam (Germany); VAWM (2020) and Wheel of Radical. Affection (2021). In 2023, Rafaela is artist-in-residence at Workspace Brussels with the duo Something to Phase Us: Cry Loud (2022-2023), completing the third part of the collection. In 2023, she will receive support from the ATLAS ImPulsTanz Vienna program. She has also participated in artistic educational projects and has been cultivating a continuous research practice shared with various institutions and dance companies since 2014. She teaches in the bachelor’s degree program in dance at PERA University – School of Performing Arts, Girne American University – GAU (Cyprus).
