Compagnie EDA
The EDA Company, founded in 2012 in Besançon by Ambra Senatore, is a contemporary dance company developing creation and artistic outreach projects centred on relationships and human connections. Based in Marseille since entering a period of dormancy in 2016, the company is now preparing a new phase of its journey, with plans to re-establish itself in the Rhône-Alpes region.
Ambra Senatore’s works intertwine dance, speech and song to observe life and reality through a slightly off-centre lens.
This shift introduces elements of absurdity, playfulness and irony. Her work explores the theme of living together and our individual and collective behaviours, particularly the relationship between the individual and the group, offering portraits of society that reflect today’s context. Shared joy becomes both a driving force and a goal towards which people move together.
Her creative process is grounded in a collective exploration of reality: simple gestures, concrete situations, improvisations and happy accidents feed a living, dynamic choreographic material.
Ambra Senatore pays meticulous attention to composition. She shapes space, rhythm and timing with the precision of cinematic editing, organising apparent chaos to allow a clear yet open dramaturgy to emerge. Her works invite each viewer to forge their own path, striking a subtle balance between spontaneity, humour and rigour.
EDA Company – Ambra Senatore develops projects that extend beyond the presentation of its creations, seeking to foster encounters, dialogue and the co-construction of a respectful and caring way of living together. All rehearsals are conceived as open to the public, inviting spectators to share the creative process and engage in exchange with the artists.
The company carries out a wide range of artistic and mediation activities for diverse audiences, viewing dance as a means of encounter, sharing and mutual understanding.
