Salia Sanou
Born in Léguéma, Burkina Faso, Salia Sanou joined Mathilde Monnier’s company at the National Choreographic Centre of Montpellier in 1993. With Seydou Boro, he founded the company Salia nï Seydou in France, as well as the Choreographic Development Centre La Termitière and the Dialogues de corps biennale in Burkina Faso.
In 2011, he created the company Mouvements Perpétuels, based in Montpellier. He is the author of Afrique, danse contemporaine, co-published by Cercle d’Art and the National Dance Centre in Pantin.
For his choreographic work worldwide, he was named Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Burkina Faso, then Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture in 2008. In 2025, he was promoted to Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters.
In 2023, he received the SACD Choreography Prize. Salia Sanou was appointed Director of the National Choreographic Centre of Nantes, a position he has held since January 1, 2026.
