This film invites us to travel through the world of contemporary dance video, starting in the United Kingdom before arriving in France, passing through Turkey, the United States, China, and Australia. Extremely varied, both in terms of dance styles (we see butoh, contemporary dance, Turkish wrestling, and nature dance) and cinematic influences (from the HD images of certain directors to the “low tech” treatment of other participants, from the frame-by-frame animation of cut-out characters to the visual psychedelia of Kathy Rose), this project is an excellent introduction to the possibilities of video dance.
