“Through a broadcast of video images, Carolyn Carlson introduces us into a metaphysical universe where the sacred and the profane intertwine: Carlson’s symbolism has never been so obvious, nor has her affiliation with the magician Alwin Nikolaïs.
The sequences shot in the woods give the show an ecological character: water, trees, small paths, a stone rolling harmoniously and becoming the symbol of reality and imagination, all bathed in a hazy light reminiscent of Fantin Latour and Odilon Redon. The ladder brandished in space by Larrio looms in infinity, generating the mysteries of Carolyn Carlson biting into the poisoned apple, with Larrio playing Prince Charming alongside her, revealing the comic talents of the “Divine”. She regains her poetic aura in her ethereal walk through the woods, reminiscent of Botticelli’s Primavera. Modern dance revisited by Carolyn Carlson fits perfectly into this surrealistic universe dedicated to fraternity, and pure love.”
