Trauma
A subtle and captivating pas de deux, Trauma tells the story of a couple, their trials and tribulations, and their passionate moments.
Born in Milwaukee in 1942, John Neumeier trained at the London Royal Ballet School and in Copenhagen with Volkova. Appointed ballet master and choreographer at the Hamburg Opera in 1973, Neumeier signed his first French choreography with Trauma.
Harold Genzmer’s music, Cantata for Soprano and Electronic Sounds, creates a soundscape that perfectly complements John Neumeier’s dreamlike choreography, in which two dancers move through a tumultuous world of memories and dreams with the jerky movements of blind people.
