Passo

Created for the Equilibrio Festival in Rome, duo version 2009, quintet version 2010

Who are they? What do they do? Between reality and fiction, through small everyday actions, mistakes, and movements verging on the absurd, they get confused and humorously construct a derisory puppet, a reflection
of their resemblance.

The dancers, both directed and disarmed, are exposed to the gaze of the audience and create a bond with them through lively dance tinged with playful irony, torn apart by everyday behaviors, sometimes of the darkest kind. We laugh without knowing exactly why. We are touched by these bodies that are simply present, which
deny the possibility of a single interpretation of events, working on doubt and surprise.

With Passo, Ambra Senatore’s first group piece, we enter fully into the choreographer’s universe. Passo, the step. That of dance. But also the step of walking, omnipresent and revealing, which says a lot about who we are, where we are going, how we can meet others, or not. For this relationship between the individual and the collective is one of the main themes developed by the show, which features duos, trios, quartets, or more, in unison, disassembled, a crowd in chorus or lost solitaries.
