Claude Brumachon said that Texane was intended to convey his childhood view of the adult world around him.

Born out of an inner necessity, Texane is an important work in the choreographer’s career. There is a before and after Texane, with the emergence of a personal and incisive choreographic style, emotional in its movement, pictorial in its scenography, wounded in its memory.

Texane won three awards at the Bagnolet International Competition in June 1988: the Cointreau Foundation Prize for best contemporary choreography, the Leonardo da Vinci Prize awarded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Bonnie Bird Prize awarded by the Laban Centre in London.
